@jbtaylor on tech

I'm a spokesman for Sprint. This personal site is where I share news stories and my views about our company, our phones and other devices. I also write a bit about tech policy, the wireless industry and life in Washington, D.C.

To ensure that Sprint's lawyers continue to support employees' use of social media, please read the disclaimers on my "About this Posterous" page.

Coming to a Theater near you: Snacks right now on the Now Network

I spoke with my co-worker on our marketing team who is managing this program. It's pretty cool. You'll go up to these "lobby interactive displays" -- she said not to call them kiosks -- and text a short code on your Sprint phone. Then you'll receive a code on your phone to scan into the "lobby interactive display" and Voila -- coupons for a bigger popcorn or larger soda are printed out just for you. It's just another way we want to say thank you for using Sprint.

The first kiosks -- er "displays" -- are getting installed on July 15. I've seen the list of the theaters -- they are slated to be set up in theaters all over the country in big cities and small towns. Look for it soon.

The NY Times takes a look at public relations as it's practiced in Silicon Valley

A reporter friend of mine shared this NY Times story with me because the story left him with the impression that PR people don't need journalists any more. Nothing could be further than the truth. But I will say the best PR people I know do spend more of their time with some of the other influencers.

What's your take?
